Jita-Kyoei (Mutual Prosperity) is one of the two main maxims for Kodokan Judo. In Judo or Jiu-jitsu practice, both partners should benefit from the training session. Think of ROI (return on investment). You get out of it what you put into it. If you are a good practice partner, more people and higher quality partners will wish to train with you. It's in your best interest to be a good partner. Right now, due to Covid-19 social distancing mandates, most martial arts academies are not working with partners or it is very limited. Many academies are closed or only doing online classes. Still, even if you are working with a family member on your mats at home, it's important to be a good partner. In being a good partner, you are being a good student and increasing your learning capacity. 3 Rules-- #1 -- Always look out for number one (yourself) #2 -- Trust your practice partner (your partner should be trustworthy) #3 -- Don't trust your practice partner (mistakes happen even at the highest level)
